Coloured Concrete - Questions

How is the concrete coloured?

Coloured concrete is achieved by mixing a powdered or liquid pigment into the concrete at the time of batching. This has the advantage of providing a consistent colour finish.

Will the colour in the concrete fade?

The colour system that we use is manufactured from top quality materials and exceed all relevant standards in relation to light fastness and tint strength. Having said that, you will have a hard job finding a finish that will not be affected by our strong UV rays.

Can colour be applied to an existing concrete floor?

No. This system is not an overlay (which is applied over existing floors). The colour is mixed into the concrete before it is poured giving the concrete a consistent finish, it cannot be applied to floors already laid.

There are some major points you must be aware of and understand about coloured concrete

i) The colour will be motley and have colour variation within the slab.
ii) The concrete may crack.
iii) Each slab is unique to itself in relation to finish and colour. No two slabs will be the same, even though the same colur has been used.
